Pulled Apart - Recognition

New Pulled Apart music. Nothing mind-blowingly new, but straight-up hardcore done pretty well. Less annoyingly repetitive than many of the thousands peddling watered-down classic hxc these days. They’ve come on since the demo too, which is good.

‘Old Croghan Man’ is really good in particular.

Pretty hardcore tribal sound off Maria & The Mirrors, who have a record coming out soon on the ever-brilliant Exotic Pylon record label. If it’s all as hard-hitting as this it’ll be a great ride. Would really love to hear this in some massive warehouse on a great, slightly-too-loud soundsystem. I’d say it would properly make your head explode then.  No holding back.

This is an essential collection of songs by an essential band. One of the most forward-thinking punk bands of their time, Moss Icon set the groundwork for so much of what was to come. They were political, uncompromising and aggressive. They understood the raw punch of hardcore, stretched the boundaries of noise and texture and topped it all off with inspired lyrics. You just have to listen.

This is one special gig for us. I can’t really begin to relate the effect seeing Silent Front in the Lower Deck on Halloween had on Mark and I. To play with them feels like quite a personal achievement and it’s going to be loads of fun to boot.
Come down and bring a friend. It’ll be the hardest rocking Wednesday you’ll have had in years.
