Community Of Independents - A Joyful Slog
Just realised I never actually posted this, just saved it as a draft…
Anyway, if you haven’t seen it already, I’d recommend taking an hour to watch it. It’s not exactly a comprehensive over-view of Dublin’s independent music scene, but it is a heart-warming and at times inspirational look at a bunch of musicians who are all doing things for the right reasons.
It’s particularly interesting for me because I guess I’m still very new to the whole scene thing and my couple of years on the go are nothing compared to people who were heading to gigs in town shortly after I was born…
I wouldn’t feel too bad about the stuff that gets left out either, like Skinny Wolves for example, because really it’s just a bit of a look back at a loose group of friends making rock/punk/metal music and where that has taken them over the past 15 odd years. Really enjoyable anyway.
