Pete Swanson - ‘Stuff It’ From last year’s I Don’t Rock At All. A fair bit lighter than the more recent stuff. Very beautiful, in a way that only he really does.

The Fog Signals - The Ghosts Of Bush →
“‘Ghosts Of Bush’ was created entirely using the natural acoustic sounds of Bush House, the iconic home for the past seven decades of the BBC World Service which will shortly be closing its doors for the last time. All of the sounds were captured in the small hours of the morning in empty offices, corridors, stairwells and other hidden corners by a Studio Manager working overnight.”

In the words of R. Kelly, I don't usually do this...
First listen to the new Ariel Pink. I’m not a fan of his work at all really. That’s not to say I dislike it, I’m just not hugely familiar and haven’t been overly partial to the bits I have listened to. I’ve kind of experienced Pink as a counter-cultural figure rather than a musician and I’m trying very hard to separate my idea of him, and the massively inflated...

Pussy Riot: will Vladamir Putin regret taking on... →
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/jul/29/pussy-riot-protest-vladimir-putin-russia?fb=optOut The best of the Pussy Riot pieces I’ve read to date. This whole situation throws up so many ideas, problems, questions and challenges. It’s brilliant and terrifying and inspiring.

THE OUTER CHURCH DUBLIN: PYE CORNER AUDIO, BLACK...
So happy to be able to announce this after weeks and months of planning and preparation. So excited about seeing three of the finest electronic artists in Britain all in Dublin for one night only, as part of the Darklight film festival. Joseph Stannard, creator, instigator and manager of the Outer Church has put together a really incredible line-up and the screening of Graham Geznick’s ‘I Can...

How "Free" Is Ruining Everything →
This is spot on I think. It’s obviously approaching the situation from a set angle but that’s not a bad thing. Highlights most of the problems with illegal file-sharing, not just music downloading, and goes into the specifics of copyright which are important to understand. The problem of elitism raises it’s ugly head and the question of where exactly support is going to come from...

“Back at the beginning of the file-sharing wars, during the delirious 18 months...”
– This is one interesting paragraph from what is a generally interesting, although flawed, article on why people illegally download/steal music. Overall it’s kinda confused but it is trying to get at the idea that music AS A THING has always been stolen in some form or another and that different...

David Foster Wallace on Roger Federer and modern... →
I’ve tried so many times to explain beauty in sport, that ineffable thing that keeps me going back to football, rugby, tennis, golf, etc, over and over again. This article does a far better job than I ever will.  (Via @sineadgleeson on Twitter)
